Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs — Bailliage of Calgary and Southern Alberta

Message from the Bailli | Joe Scorgie

Thank you to our members for your continued support and membership renewal. Your dues help mentor the next generation of Young Sommeliers and Young Chefs — central to our organization's mission.

The National Jeune Sommelier Competition took place on March 28 at The Ranchmen's Club with five competitors. Isaiah Santos (Calgary) placed third, Gabriella Desbiens-Richard (Montreal) earned second, and Junxing (James) Li (Toronto) won as National Champion. James will represent Canada at the international competition in Båstad, Sweden in October 2026.

Our l'Ordre Mondial and Dîner Amical events held March 20–21 at The Malcolm Hotel in Canmore were memorable successes.

Council Changes

After 18 years, Mel Miners retired as Vice Argentier. Susan Bauerfind stepped down after 15 years as Vice Chargée de Missions and joined the National Council. Sean MacDonald concluded his role as Vice Conseiller Gastronomique.

We welcomed four new officers: Maggie Rigaux (Vice Argentier), Corrine Fiesel (Vice Chargée de Missions), Stas Anikin (Vice Conseiller Gastronomique), and Ryan Woods (Vice Chancelier).
